Sonya Yoncheva and Opera Plovdov with a charitable initiative

The opera prima Sonya Yoncheva extends a charitable gesture to the students of the National School of Music and Dance Arts 'Dobrin Petkov' in Plovdiv before her meeting with the audience at the Ancient Theater in the gala concert 'Tosca' on June 4. As part of the initiative, which the world-renowned soprano dedicates to the 70th anniversary of Plovdiv Opera, she will provide high school classes at her alma mater with free access to the performances and concerts from the Plovdiv Opera's program in 2024. The decision by Sonya Yoncheva, made in collaboration with the team of Opera Plovdiv, aims to nurture the development and spiritual enrichment of the future generation of musicians and artists.

'One of the main missions for me and my team is to work closely with future generations and ensure that young people in Bulgaria have access to various forms of art, guaranteeing their sustainable development. I am confident that art is the best prevention for mental health issues among the young, and we as a progressive society must advocate for this daily. Initiatives like these are very important, and I am glad that together with Opera Plovdiv, we can support more children in experiencing exciting performances and artists, enjoying and enriching their minds and senses with art,' shared Sonya Yoncheva.

This is one of the reasons Sonya Yoncheva has actively devoted herself to producing activities for several years, creating the company SY11 in 2020. The mission of the opera prima and her team is to realize significant projects and events in the field of art, attracting diverse audiences in terms of interests and age. Concerts produced by SY11 include 'Return' at the Ancient Theater in Plovdiv in the summer of 2020, and a year later, the grand opera gala that brought together nearly 6,200 people in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, featuring Sonya Yoncheva and Plácido Domingo under the baton of maestro Nayden Todorov with the accompaniment of the Sofia Philharmonic.

Another important project of SY11 is 'Treasured Voices,' which in its first edition brought together various young leading international classical artists.

On May 31 in Bulgaria Hall, the closing concert of the first successful season of 'Treasured Voices,' titled 'Paris and the Night,' will take place. For this concert, we are expecting the world-renowned mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine, called the contemporary Carmen, who will present a rich program with works by famous European and American composers for the first time in Bulgaria.

This fall, the second season of 'Treasured Voices' will begin, featuring recitals by some of the most established names in the world of opera, such as Joyce DiDonato, Piotr Beczała, Rolando Villazón, Vittorio Grigolo, and Sonya Yoncheva herself. Their performances are scheduled to take place in Bulgaria during the 2024/2025 season. Information about all SY11 events can be found at the following link: SY11 Events."
