Festive Concert of Opera Plovdiv with Vasko Vassilev

Opera Plovdiv and the Municipality of Plovdiv invite the residents of Plovdiv and guests of the city to the Festive Gala Concert "The City Celebrates the Opera" on June 16 (Sunday) at Central Square (the overpass on Gladstone Street) with the special participation of virtuoso violinist Vasko Vassilev. The event, with free admission, is the culminating finale of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the musical institute. The concert with soloists, choir, and orchestra of Plovdiv Opera will be conducted by Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli from Italy and Maestro Dian Tchobanov, the director of the Opera.

The musical celebration, through which Plovdiv will live with its Opera, will begin at 7 PM on the Kamenitsa stairs with the concert "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" performed by the children from Madame Opera's Academy. At 7:30 PM, a parade of Opera artists will start from the Roman Stadium, where the photo exhibition "The Opera is Here" is displayed, and will proceed to the main stage on the overpass on Gladstone Street. The Gala Concert featuring guest soloist Vasko Vassilev will start at 8:30 PM. Immediately after the concert, the audience will also enjoy a dance performance by the ballet of Plovdiv Opera with pieces from the shows "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Tomorrow After Today."

The festive initiatives for the 70th anniversary of Opera Plovdiv are united under the slogan "The Opera is HERE." The Opera is Here – in the hearts of the citizens, in the pulse of its City.

The event is organized following the example of many major European cities, where open-air concerts by local orchestras and opera theaters become city-wide cultural celebrations. It is part of the annual open-air concerts of Plovdiv Opera "Classic Open Air" from the Cultural Calendar of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
