The Musical Fantasy The Five Elements Opens OPERA OPEN 2025 at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv

The conceptual performance The Five Elements by Italian violinist and composer Alessandro Quarta will open OPERA OPEN 2025 at the Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv on Tuesday, July 1, starting at 9:00 PM.

As with other opening events of the festival, the audience will be seated on the very stage of the ancient venue, while the entire performance will unfold on the central grandstands!

The “wizard of the violin” Alessandro Quarta invites the audience to experience the dance of EARTH, WATER, AIR, FIRE, and ETHER—and to witness their CREATION in an esoteric musical fantasy. The performance will feature interactive video mapping by Petko Tanchev, projected directly onto the stone rows of the Ancient Theatre.

The spectacle includes pianist Giuseppe Magagnino and the Orchestra of the Plovdiv Opera, conducted by Maestro Dian Tchobanov.

Italian star Alessandro Quarta—a violinist and composer—enchants with his instrument: unexpected and unpredictable, with powerful stage presence and passionate energy, yet also tender, intimate, and deeply emotional. His international acclaim stems from appearances on prestigious stages such as Arena di Verona, the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, Auditorium Cavea in Rome, and festivals in Padua and Matera, as well as numerous concerts and broadcasts on RAI television.

With The Five Elements, he opens the door to his world—inviting us to make the work our own while crossing the threshold of Creation itself: music that penetrates deep within, offering no way to escape.
