Ballet "ARABESQUE" and Opera Plovdiv's Orchestra
The performance Romeo and Juliet is an interpretation of the eternal love story, offering a modern dance reading of the play Romeo and Juliet on the music of Sergei Prokofiev – a masterpiece of the ballet art. The authors discuss the Shakespearian notions of time and space, of truth, knowledge, love, and the place of man in the universe. The subject of study, in our story of Romeo and Juliet, is the impact of external factors on the personal choice relating to our actions and deeds, as conscious or unconscious suggestion.
The performance discusses the question of the good, which brings bad, and the price of the inappropriate advice. How do we take responsibility for our actions today, and shouldn’t we give up all our pretences of innocence, if we want to live with our depths. Has anything changed in the human consciousness and behavior today, and are we able to rationalize and comprehend the logic and the generic characteristics of the modern age. Where is the love nowadays? Is this a transient psychosis, bringing devastation to itself and the others, a logical continuation of the unconscious premise “my soul is in the hands of the other”, or a great naivety?
