GALA CONCERT "THE HEART OF PUCCINI, THE POWER OF VERDI"

"The Heart of Puccini, the Power of Verdi" and an impactful mapping on the House of Culture enchanted the people of Plovdiv on the International Day of Music

The International Music Day - October 1 and the beginning of the new creative season of Opera Plovdiv was marked with the festive gala "The Heart of Puccini, the Power of Verdi " in Plovdiv. The glamorous show, a gift for the people of Plovdiv, took place outdoors in front of the Boris Hristov House of Culture with a unique mapping on the building. For the first time, the Boris Hristov Sports Complex has become a mapping screen created especially for an opera concert. Plovdiv residents filled the space in front of the building hours before the start, and there was a separate place for the children's audience, which form the first row, on a red aisle and pillows in the same colour, eagerly and curiously swallowed what was happening.

Opera Plovdiv played in front of its facade. Coercion against anti-epidemic measures is not the only reason for this. This is also the memory of the medieval mysteries, entertainments, spectacles, in which the artists stood openly in front of their audience in a bold attempt to win it - without tricks and propaganda, only with their art, with their skills. Thus, they opened their next season - on the stage platform of the City, bravely leaving the corridors and backstage. With music by two composers, whose names are symbols of the art of opera, with the ability and attractiveness of solo singers, choir, ballet and orchestra. With the animators' colouring sounds.

The opera came out in front of his home and closed the space for movement in the name of art. They became hers with a single purpose - to delight and fascinate their audience, to celebrate with their fellow citizens!

The gala concert "The Heart of Puccini, the Power of Verdi" was conducted by Grigor Palikarov. The concept is the work of Assoc. Prof. Nina Naydenova - director of Opera Plovdiv. The delightful and spectacular mapping that enlivened the facade of the building, illustrating the individual performances of works by Puccini and Verdi, created Petko Tanchev, whom Plovdiv residents know from his work on the play "Odyssey" by Plovdiv Drama Theater and the closing event of Plovdiv ECOC 2019.

The conductor of choirs - Dragomir Yosifov. In the gala, Plovdiv residents saw and heard the wonderful voices of the soloists' Vera Girginova, Svetlana Ivanova, Elena Chavdarova - Isa, Evgenia Ralcheva, Alexander Nosikov, Mark Fowler and Mihail Puliev.

The ballet soloist was Alexandra Savova, and the concertmaster was the brilliant violinist Micho Dimitrov.

During this musical journey with the participation of soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra of Opera Plovdiv led our favourite host Lilly Barzeva, who not only presented the individual performances but also introduced the audience to the history of works and emotions of the era in which they were created.

The gala concert "Puccini's Heart, Verdi's Power" is realized in partnership with the "Culture" Department of the Municipality of Plovdiv.

At the end of the event, Soloists, Choir and Orchestra of the Plovdiv Opera performed "Toast" from the opera "La Traviata" by Verdi to the applause of the audience. The Deputy Mayor for Culture, Archeology and Tourism of the Municipality of Plovdiv Plamen Panov and Assoc. Prof. Nina Naydenova sent an emotional greeting to the citizens of Plovdiv. On behalf of the team of Opera Plovdiv, she thanked for the unconditional support of Plamen Panov.
