"Opera Boutique" in February

Opera Plovdiv has planned curious meetings in the increasingly popular chamber format - "OPERA BOUTIQUE", in which spectators are accommodated on the stage - the workplace of the artists, next to the participants.

At the peak of St. Valentine's Day, February 14th, the singer, radio host and organizer of Plovdiv Jazz Fest - MIROSLAVA KATSAROVA invites music lovers to a romantic jazz journey with some of the most exciting songs presented in five languages. Accompanied by pianist Miroslav Turiiski, she will perform favourite songs from her personal collection - famous jazz standards, pieces from a Wim Wenders movie, favourite pop songs in jazz arrangements and some of her most intimate works. In front of the presenter Lili Barzeva, Miroslava Katsarova will share interesting facts about the performers and the songs she has chosen for this boutique meeting and will immerse us in her world full of jazz and love. Ballet dancers Amadeo Junta and Mara Salvaggio will perform a choreographed dance. The event "LOVE SONGS with Miroslava Katsarova" starts at 18:00.

The Opera Boutique series continues its educational tradition and meets the audience with directors, conductors, artists, painters, choreographers, who reveal in a fascinating way the secrets of creating an opera performance. With the means of the story and the power of the music, the spectators learn how a score turns into action and immerse themselves in the authentic atmosphere of the performance.

On FEBRUARY 17th from 19:00, the audience will be transported to the world of JAPAN and its culture with the opera "MADAM BUTTERFLY" - Puccini. The director NINA NAYDENOVA will immerse us in the 1920s with the story of a Japanese girl and her Big Dream and will reveal curious details of the plot and themes of the show - one of the pearls of the Opera Open festival, which won the Plovdiv Award for scenography. The conductor Luciano Di Martino will tell about the music and the history of its writing by the great Puccini.

The talented soloists of Opera Plovdiv - Evgenia Ralcheva, Mark Fowler, Elena Chavdarova - Isa, Svetlana Ivanova, Mihail Puliev will perform some of the most beautiful arias and ensembles from the opera.

To get a deeper feel of the spirit and colour of Japanese culture, some of the spectators will be dressed in authentic JAPANESE KIMONO with the help of assistants from the Makeup and Costumes Department.

On FEBRUARY 20th, the eternal RUSSIAN ROMANCES will sound on the stage of Opera Plovdiv. The concert-performance will lead us on the path of life - the eternal duel between mind and heart, presented by the actor Petar Toskov and the baritone KRUM GALABOV. Romances by Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Glier and Rachmaninoff will be performed by Evgenia Ralcheva and Elena Chavdarova-Isa to the accompaniment of Zarina Getoeva. And Pushkin's poetry will complement this spiritual adventure! Director - Dima Dimitrova, the cameraman - Anton Marchev.
