The Barber of Seville is one of the most famous comic operas in the world, and the refrain "Figaro! Figaro! Figaro! ” has long been a favourite of millions of viewers. Rossini's music easily follows the plotline and carries humour Maestro Balev emphasizes with finesse in his work with the soloists and the orchestra. The director Nina Naidenova with a wink explores the famous quote Stupidity and vanity go hand in hand” by Pierre de Beaumarchais - author of the play The Barber of Seville. Her original staging decisions and surprises for the audience reinforce the satire in the libretto and carry in themselves direct references to the contemporary political scene. The costumes and the masks of the artist Nikolina Kostova - Bogdanova and the choreography of Boryana Sechanova accentuate the bright individuality of all images. The choir, led musically by Dragomir Yosifov, has been assigned a variety of artistic tasks that complement the humorous effect of the production. The set designer Elitsa Georgieva transports the audience to Seville by transforming a whole one sector of the Ancient Theater in an orange grove. The production is realized together with Sofia Opera and Ballet.

Tickets for "The Barber of Seville" ran out a month before the premiere, which is proof of the high artistic level of the performances of Opera Plovdiv. The show will be played "encore" on 27.08, when the central roles will be performed by Svilen Nikolov, Alexander Baranov and Svetlana Ivanova.
