OPERA OPEN 2022 – THE DIFFERENT WORLD
The main priority of the team is the development of international opera tourism in Bulgaria, combining in a unique way the live music art with the ancient heritage of Plovdiv on the example of European festivals with ancient open stages.
Highlights of the program in 2022 are the premieres of the ballet performance "Anna Karenina", the opera "Nabucco" and the return of the performance "Orpheus and Eurydice", watched by over 7,000 people in 2019 and confirmed the name of Plovdiv as European Capital of Culture. At the Ancient Theater they will once again present their talent as guest artists with international careers such as Stefano Poda, Leo Muich, Jose Kura, Carlos Almager, Michal Znaniecki, Ursula Horner, Krassimira Stoyanova, Marta Petkova, Kiril Manolov, Martin Tsonev, Maria Radoeva and others.
The selection of OPERA OPEN in 2022 is entitled "The Different World" and includes titles that inspire faith through the purifying power of art - from the celebration of light in the play "Orpheus and Eurydice" by director Stefano Poda, through the anthem of freedom Jewish choir in "Nabucco", through retribution for the vice in "Don Juan" by Mozart to the power of self-sacrifice in the name of humanity in the performances "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Maria de Buenos Aires" by Veselka Kuncheva. A kind of "entrance" to the different world that artists dream of will be the opening Peace Concert of the "Children's Choir of Bulgaria" on June 19, in which over 400 children from all over the country will send their messages through song.
Tickets for the titles from OPERA OPEN 2022 without the partner projects are sold online in eventim.bg and in the Eventim network. For another year, the policy of Opera Plovdiv is to provide tickets at affordable prices of BGN 20 as well as package discounts for regular spectators and tour operators.
OPERA OPEN 2022 is part of the program "Legacy II" of Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019.
