OPERA OPEN 2025: “LA TRAVIATA” – IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Dear audience,

The soprano Nino Machaidze is forced to cancel her performance in La Traviata at OPERA OPEN on July 5 due to a vocal cord illness, for which she apologizes  to the audience. To avoid disappointing her fans in Bulgaria, the star will give an Opera Gala on September 26, which will both close the OPERA OPEN festival and open the new 2025/2026 creative season of the Plovdiv Opera. Ticket holders for La Traviata will be eligible for a discount for the gala event upon presenting their ticket at the Plovdiv Opera box office.

The role of Violetta Valéry on July 5 will now be performed by Alexandrina Mihaylova, a rising soprano from the renowned school of Raina Kabaivanska and a graduate of the Accademia della Scala. Alexandrina made her debut at the National Opera and Ballet in Sofia in 2021 and at La Scala in 2022. Over the past season, she has debuted in iconic soprano roles and has been recognized as the next great operatic voice of Bulgaria. The OPERA OPEN audience will remember her from the Gala concert honoring Raina Kabaivanska, where she received enthusiastic applause for her performance of “Sempre Libera” from La Traviata.
