OPERA PLOVDIV WITH A RECORD NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS “CRYSTAL LYRE” AND “IMPULSE 25” AWARDS

Opera Plovdiv celebrates an outstanding achievement with a record number of nominations in two of the most prestigious honors on the Bulgarian performing arts scene – the “Crystal Lyre” Awards, presented by the Union of Musicians and Dancers in Bulgaria and Classic FM, and the Annual Awards of the professional dance community “Impulse 25”.

In the competition for the “Crystal Lyre”, Opera Plovdiv received six nominations:

• Maestro Dian Tchobanov in the “Conductor” category for the large-scale project “Requiem” by Verdi, featuring opera diva Krassimira Stoyanova;

• The Contemporary Music Ensemble of the State Opera – Plovdiv, founded by Dragomir Yossifov, in the “Chamber Ensemble” category for the concert “Tempi Concertati” at the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis;

• The musical “The Producers” in the “Creative Production Team” category;

• The musical “Hair” in the “Operetta and Musical Theatre” category;

• The international ballet production “The Piano” in the “Ballet Art” category;

• and in the “Jazz” category, the “New Year’s Jazz Surprise” concert was also nominated.

The production “The Piano”, choreographed by Jiří Bubeníček, also earned Opera Plovdiv three nominations for the “Impulse 25” Awards — in the categories “Dance Production of the Year”, “Production or Adaptation of a Classical Dance Work”, and “Dance Company of the Year”.

The “Crystal Lyre” Awards represent the highest professional recognition in the field of musical and dance art in Bulgaria and will be presented on November 1 at the National Musical Theatre in Sofia. The new winners of the “Impulse 25” Awards will be announced on November 3 at the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov”.
