OPERA PLOVDIV BECOMES AN OFFICIAL MEMBER OF THE SILK ROAD INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF THEATRES (SRILT)
Opera Plovdiv has been officially admitted as a member of the Silk Road International League of Theatres (SRILT) during the organisation’s Fourth Investment and Trade Fair, held in Shenzhen, China.
Established at the initiative of China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG), a major state-owned cultural enterprise under the supervision of China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, SRILT brings together nearly 200 theatres and performing arts organisations from around the world, serving as an international platform for cultural exchange and cooperation.
At the forum, Opera Plovdiv was represented by Nikola Shopov, Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs, who introduced participants to the institution’s artistic activities, diverse repertoire and potential for international cultural cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on OPERA OPEN, the international festival held at the Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv. The presentation highlighted opportunities to establish new international partnerships, develop joint projects and foster cultural exchange through the festival and the broader activities of Opera Plovdiv.
Joining SRILT marks an important step in expanding Opera Plovdiv’s international network and opens up new opportunities for co-productions, guest performances, artistic exchange and long-term partnerships, including with cultural organisations in China.
Opera Plovdiv extends its special thanks to the China Cultural Center in Sofia and its director, Ms. Gu Lina, for their support and assistance, which contributed to making this participation possible and to strengthening cultural ties between Bulgaria and China.
