Opera Open 2017

From June 10th to July 29th, 2017, the traditional summer opera festival OPERA OPEN will take place at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv. It is the only festival platform in Bulgaria that is multi-genre and "open" to opera, ballet, operetta, musical theatre, and modern dance.

The 2017 program is even more ambitious and expansive, featuring a total of 11 productions, including 4 operas—2 of which are premieres—2 ballets (classical and contemporary), 3 concerts with virtuoso instrumentalists, a musical, and an operetta. The festival's lineup includes strong international participation, thanks to the support of the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation. Two international productions will be presented: one with the ballet of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, and the first collaboration between Plovdiv Opera and Teatro Regio di Parma with their Verdi Festival production of The Force of Destiny.
