Apostol Karamitev" Drama Theatre – Dimitrovgrad

"The theatre officially opened its doors in 1953 as the Municipal Dramatic Theatre. Its first performance on stage was The Job Seekers by Ivan Vazov. In 1964, the theatre was closed, and the building served as a second stage for the Haskovo Theatre. It was restored as a state theatre in 1972, and from 1973 it bore the name of the late Apostol Karamitev, who passed away that same year. In 1994, it was transformed into the State Open Theatre Stage 'Apostol Karamitev.' By a decree of the Council of Ministers in 2011, it became the Municipal Dramatic Theatre 'Apostol Karamitev.
