Violeta Radomirska in Plovdiv for "Carmen"
Mezzo soprano Violetta Radomirska was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. As a child she performed in many occasions as a soloist for the Sofia Children’s Radio choir. She began her voice training at the Sofia Music Academy and since 1995 she is studying with the famous mezzo Alexandrina Miltcheva. In 1995 and 1997 she was a winner of the National Svetoslav Obretenov Competition and the International Coast of Hope Competition. In 1997 she was awarded a scholarship by Alexander Pereira for a two years voice study and became a member of the Zurich International Opera Studio.
At the Zurich Opera, Violetta Radomirska has appeared in a large number of roles including The Page SALOME, Nanette DER WILDSCHÜTZ, Page SLY, Leonora DIE NEUGIERIGEN FRAUEN (Wolf-Ferrari), Giovanna ERNANI, Balkis DIE PILGER VON MEKKA as well as parts in RIGOLETTO, LA BELLE HELENE, L’AMORE DEI TRE RE… She had the wonderful opportunity there to work with conductors like Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Nello Santi, Valery Gergiev, Marcello Viotti and William Christie.
In 1997 Violetta Radomirska sang her first major rôle, Rosin a IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Sofia National Opera, where she was reinvited the following season for Annio LA CLEMENZA DI TITO.
In 2002 Violetta became a member of the Luzerner Theater Ensemble in Switzerland, where she had the opportunity to sing among others roles Mercédès CARMEN, Second Lady DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Orlovski DIE FLEDERMAUS, the Italian singer LE BOURGEOIS GENTILHOMME as well as participating in the Purcell project KINGS, QUEENS AND WITCHES. That same year she also took part inShimanovsky’s STABAT MATER in Milano with the RAI Orchestra under Arnold Bosman.
In the following seasons she made her début in several main rôles of the répertoire, including Angelina LA CENERENTOLA, Cherubino LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Der Trommler DER KAISER VON ATLANTIS (Ullmann) in 2004, Romeo I CAPULETI E I MONTECCHI in 2005, Isabella L’ITALIANA IN ALGIERI at the National Theatre in Sofia . In 2006 she performed at the Summer Opera Festival in St Moritz as Giulietta UN GIORNO DI REGNO and Sesto LA CLEMENZA DI TITO in Winterthur.
Subsequent engagements have included Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Orfeo in Gluck’s ORFEO E EURIDICE and Cherubino LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at the Stadtheater Bern. Medoro in Haendel’s ORLANDO, title rôle of BOCCACCIO by Franz von Suppé, role which she also covered in Japan during a tour of the Volksoper Wien, as well as Desdemona in Rossini’s OTELLO at the St Moritz Festival.
She made her French début in 2008 with LA CENERENTOLA at the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy. Most recently, Violetta was featured in the title role of Rossini’s TANCREDI in Biel Solothurn.
Her projects include Dorabella COSI FAN TUTTE, Isabella L’ITALIANA IN ALGIERI and for the first time Donna Elvira DON GIOVANNI.
