VIENNA CLASSICS

Pre-holiday Opera Plovdiv presents an opera-symphonic cycle of a total of four concerts "Vienna Classics", including some of the most famous works of Mozart and Haydn, as well as a boutique program with the pre-Christmas musical tradition of Vienna! Conductors of the concerts with soloists and Orchestra of Opera Plovdiv are Grigor Palikarov, Dian Chobanov and Emil Tabakov. The program for the cycle with works by the two Viennese classics is united by the theme "Dangerous Relationships". About her Dragomir Yosifov, a musical playwright, shares: "Why" dangerous relationships "? If not for General de Laclo's epistolary novel, our memory goes back at least to the famous 1988 film of the same name with John Malkovich and Glenn Close. "Dangerous relationships" is a metaphor - and not quite; a joke - and not exactly. Chaucer de Laclo and the two Viennese classics live and work at the same time. They describe an era - both sentimental and dangerous; its sweet and horrible sunset, at its highest, as Pascal Kinyar puts it, "beauty."

What are the connections in our cycle? (A program is based on connections, and why they are "dangerous" will become clear, I hope.) The connection between Haydn and Mozart is close and clear: when Leopold Mozart discreetly asked "Father" Haydn about his son's qualities, he received the following answer: Before God and as an honest man, I tell you: Your son is the best composer because of the masters counterpoint and has taste. And the connection of both of us, the audience, and us - the musicians is that they are among our greatest benefactors. And healers. There is always a danger of NOT distinguishing the music of the classics - and the difference is precisely the beauty. We set ourselves the task of showing the artful differences in the intoxicating resemblance of the Viennese classics. "
