One of Mozart's rarely performed masterpieces, La Clemenza di Tito, will open the opera season on October 5th. The chamber music season will open with the concert Songs of a Soul Flying to Heaven, dedicated to composer Ivan Spassov, on October 7th at the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis. The conductor will be Dragomir Yossifov.

The ballet season will kick off on October 12th with the classical ballet Anna Karenina, based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy and featuring music by Tchaikovsky. The performance will feature special guest appearances by Marta Petkova, Nikola Hadjitanev, and Emil Yordanov – principal soloists of the National Ballet in Sofia. The production, choreographed by world-renowned Leo Mujić and awarded 3 “Crystal Lyre” prizes, will also be presented on October 22nd.

The 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death will be commemorated with a performance of his one-act operas – the comedy Gianni Schicchi and the tragedy Suor Angelica. Directed by Elena Stoyanova, the production will be conducted by Vladimir Kiradjiev.

Verdi’s Macbeth will return to the stage of Plovdiv Opera after a long absence on October 26th. Shakespeare’s dramatic masterpiece, which inspired Verdi, will come to life once again with Kiril Manolov and Tanya Ivanova in the lead roles, conducted by Dian Chobanov.
