STATE OPERA PLOVDIV ANNOUNCES AN AUDITION
for singers of all voice types to join the Opera Choir.

Venue: Plovdiv, Boris Hristov House of Culture, 2nd floor, “Maria Arnaudova” Choir Hall

Successful candidates will be offered contracts with State Opera Plovdiv.

Application materials:

• CV
• Video recording of an aria and/or song, if available

Application deadline: 14 October 2026 (inclusive)

Selected candidates will receive confirmation and further details about the audition by email.

At the audition, candidates must present:

• Two arias from the operatic repertoire – one must be by an Italian composer, while the second may be chosen from the German, French, Russian, Czech, Bulgarian or other repertoire.

or

• A song (e.g. Lied, Russian/French romance, sacred music, Bulgarian or contemporary vocal work)
• An aria from the classical operatic repertoire, chosen by the candidate and suitable for their voice type and tessitura.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of Italian, German, French or English (at a level allowing the candidate to understand and pronounce the text) is desirable.
• Discipline, dedication to opera and readiness to work as part of a choir.
• Candidates must indicate in advance if they require an accompanist.
