The brilliant director, artist, and choreographer Stefano Poda will stage Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice specially for Opera Open 2019 at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Thracians, the lands of Orpheus, and ancient pagan rituals such as fire dancing, the renowned artist will present a performance that blends classical music, ancient heritage, Thracian mythology, diverse ethnic influences, and the contemporary pulse of Plovdiv.
The role of Orpheus will be performed by the star countertenor Antonio Giovannini, one of the rarest operatic voices. Stefano Poda's signature style is characterized by the visual spectacle of his productions.
