The performance will introduce the audience to timeless love poetry, performed by some of Bulgaria's most beloved actors: Vladо Penev, Zahari Baharov, Julian Vergov, Teodora Duhovnikova, Malin Krustev, Ivan Barnev, Boyko Krastanov, and Antoni Donchev. Poetry is known to be the sister of music, and both are children of rhythm. In the centuries when the Ancient Theatre was not yet ancient, speech and music were intricately woven together; poetry was sung. Today, when the Theatre is Ancient, many centuries after that era, we invite the audience to a performance where music and speech are united. Beautiful Bulgarian love poems by Hristo Fotev, Peyo Yavorov, Dobromir Tonev, Damyan Damyanov, Valeri Petrov, Petya Dubarova, and others will be recited, accompanied by the timbres and sensitivity of today's famous actors. The wonderful Antoni Donchev and musicians from the Plovdiv Opera will tirelessly bring this poetry back to its musical roots, giving it new power.
The performance features a reversed perspective, with the audience seated on the stage of the Ancient Theatre and in sectors A and F.
