Duration 120 Minutes

The choreography is a fusion of classical ballet on pointe and neoclassical dance, especially in the movements of the mechanical toys, as the very story calls for such a blend of styles. Choreographer Boriana Sechanova draws on the philosophy behind the story, inspired by the imagination of children, and emphasizes the idea that they need more attention from their parents than mechanical toys as gifts. For her, the characters in the fairy tale are not divided into good and evil, black and white. They are all colorful in the dreams of children, and each one embodies a variety of traits – like the ugly nutcracker who comes to life and transforms into a handsome prince. Regarding her work with the renewed international ballet company of the Opera Plovdiv, the choreographer shares: “All the participants are incredibly young, which is wonderful! This is a performance for the young dancers.”
