"The Barber of Seville" is one of the most famous comic operas in the world, and the refrain "Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!" has long become a favorite of millions of viewers.
Nina Naydenova, with a wink, explores the famous quote "Folly and vanity go hand in hand" by Pierre de Beaumarchais – the author of the play The Barber of Seville. Her original directorial choices and surprises for the audience enhance the satire embedded in the libretto and carry direct references to the contemporary political scene. The costumes and masks by artist Nikolina Kostova-Bogdanova and the choreography by Boryana Sechanova emphasize the vivid individuality of all the characters.
Set designer Elitsa Georgieva transports the audience to Seville by transforming an entire section of the Ancient Theatre into an orange grove.
