“The Journey” is a multimedia project by violinist Vasko Vassilev, whose premiere will take place on the stage of the Ancient Theatre as part of the Opera Open festival. Together with the Plovdiv Opera Orchestra, and by Vasko’s invitation, the performance will feature Pamela Nicholson (piano), Aurelio Martínez-Chico (keyboards) and Carlos Llave (guitar). The project is conducted by Luciano Di Martino, Artistic Director of Plovdiv Opera.

The concert programme includes classical works by Vivaldi, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, de Falla, Albéniz, Strauss and Holst, presented in arrangements that serve the project’s overall concept.

“I am very grateful to Maestro Dian Chobanov and to Ms Nina Naidenova for the opportunity to work together for a second time. After last June’s concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of Plovdiv Opera, I was invited to be part of this year’s** Opera Open**, and I am delighted to return to the heart of Plovdiv on the stage of the Ancient Theatre,” says Vasko Vassilev. “I would also like to add that it is a great pleasure to work for the first time with such a devoted and talented designer as Petko Tanchev. The entire preparation of the show is in close collaboration with him, and I can’t wait to present the production to the audience.”
